     There is a government program in Hungary for installing solar panels. Argentina could do something similar.
     There is to many people supplying electricity during the summer now in Hungary so the program might end soon.

     You need a special setup for a generator to safely power a house during a grid outage, which is quite expensive to legally install.

     @reimu @waifu Yes, there are non-grid tie inverters that are very expensive due to the proprietary control software, but the output of solar panels are not reliable enough (a cloud often passes over and cuts production), requiring a battery as well and of course the proprietary control software for that is extremely expensive too.

     assuming your computer runs at 65W * 16hr/day * 30 days/month it'd use 31.2kWh/month. i'd expect a fridge to use about that much if not less electricity. air conditioners use a lot of power though so maybe that, lights, and cooking make up the difference, but you should consider getting a watt meter and spying on the power usage of older appliances
