    @PhenomX6 @xianc78 @alex @gnusocialjp @ryo

    The second thing that happened is that the social media machine began to lose control of the narrative and topics for the first time

    Not so much that they lost control but that for the first time their narrative was so far removed from the general population that their traditional leverages couldn’t extend far enough to accommodate the new extreme.

    Also coincidentally, this is when the transgender craze began to spread like wildfire online but especially among two groups:

    It also coincided with the massive consolidation of gamer comms (discord) which could exert a top down narrative through policy, whereas previously nerd groups would organize in a much more decentralized manner, and therefore more insulated against outside influence.

    While many talk about trannies entering the community from outside,

    I honestly think that some part of the male brain intended to express attraction of the feminine form, by evolutionary reasons, is being short circuited to interpret female traits within one’s own body as desirable. I identify a mix of the relative decline of access to female peers for a majority of modern young men, as well as several other factors I’ll refrain from listing in order keep this from getting too long.

    would re-license their software under restrictive licenses that had clauses saying that you couldn’t use this if you worked for someone he/she hated. There were a few NPM developers sabotaging their code to protest being broke and whatnot. More developers than I can count also sabotaged products

    All very “good” developments from the perspective of a proprietary software giant.

      @wrongthink @xianc78 @alex @gnusocialjp @ryo I like to think they lost control because I grew up in a household where Stephanie Miller and Randi Rhodes were on the radio, along with the MSNBC SXM simulcast. I used to in my early days online even be a left-wing agitator doing it for free just to get a reaction out of boomers, partially because of what i was told to think however.

      I was already starting to laugh at SJWs but GamerGate for a lot of people (especially nerds) was one of the earlier wake-up calls that the media/popular narrative was fake. I should have mentioned too that GamerGate all but wiped out the apathetic nerds who wanted to be left alone, either they ended up taking a side or laying low to avoid being attacked for it.

      Their use of Discord communities as a way of influencing people has been a very mixed bag, simply because when discord implosions happen they happen fast and in a very dramatic fashion. Case in point, when drama with Fallout The Frontier including a lot on the Discord spiraled out of control into /v/, leading to a hilarious shitshow that also helped make the sneed meme mainstream:

      There was also a HOI4 mod implosion around the same time too, and some others. I've also been witness to a few myself as well, and recently prevented one from happening.
