     I’m trying to get published in a few academic conferences this year. I wish someone told me, but you don’t need to be actively at a school or research institution to do and publish research.

     @hosford42 @skinnylatte Unsolicited advice from another scholar without any publication budget: look for the non-profit and public venues with more favorable terms. You don't need to be paying Elsevier or Taylor&Francis to get work out there.
