     Big son came up from Wellington and that night was dumplings. And making them is a whole family affair of course.

     On the other hand, summer heat and hotpot is something I always found fascinating in Singapore and Malaysia. It made more sense up in the Cameron Highlands though. I was introduced to hotpot in Japan, in the winter, and always associated the first turn to cool weather with the first hotpot of the year.

     Also made a side of fried whole fish in exactly the same way my beloved grandma would make it for me. Soup and fish at Christmas makes me feel better.
