    I guess I could be in favor of exploitative social media bans

    I don't mean banning certain classes of users, I mean banning the exploiters from setting their traps to begin with

      @oneloop I'm against social media bans, they don't work, and are bad, I'm in favour other types of measures to address societal and health issues.

      @DiogoConstantino
      > Because there are relatively good ways to check this for cigarette selling/buying. So let me ask you something. Are you again making social media illegal for chidlren, or are you against the specific techniques that they're using for checking age?

      @DiogoConstantino It's not 100% effective, that's not the point. The point is that if 90% of kids smoke, other kids will feel peer pressure into smoking. but if 1% of kids smoke, they won't. So the fact that it's not 100% doesn't matter.

      @oneloop that's a really bad analogy. Because there are relatively good ways to check this for cigarette selling/buying. Also if you expect that to be an 100% effective way to prevent minors from smoking, I've got a bridge to sell you.

      @DiogoConstantino Imagine a world where children can buy cigarettes. I say "Yo, cigarettes are really bad for you, lets make it illegal to sell them to children". You say "There are no good ways to do this because of privacy, freedom of speech, competition".

      @oneloop there are no good ways to do this, being it because of technical limitations, being it because of the additional systemic risks it creates to a lot more things (privacy, freedom of speech, competion, etc...).
