persistently amazed at how every single DAW ever made has unbelievably terrible UI and UX

i genuinely have no idea where to even begin to slap down a chord

I looked at the manual and it's two thousand pages long with the literal first thing it talks about nested track folders (???) and batch audio exports

generally, good menu design is "put the thing they click on most in a place that makes it easy to click on." This menu seems to think that track color and track icon are EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, and puts them right next to the mouse. You are clearly expected to constantly fiddle with the color and icon, which has no effect on the music, just the display of the instrument. I am unsure what bouncing does, but it apparently both extremely unimportant and also important enough to dedicate a hotkey to.

clicking on the headphones (the track monitor, apparently?) changes them from light grey to light blue. i assume light blue means activated because it is more colorful, but i don't know what monitoring means or does.

i have identified at least 8 different regions i can click on to produce different menus when right-clicked, none of which are marked by any boundary. Here is my estimated map of what they look like. None of them get me the option that I'm looking for, which is to replace the felt piano with a different kind of piano so I can find a crisper piano sound.

I am unsure where to look for that option.

the REPLACE option, which by the menu rules is the least chosen option (while "redo move notes" is the most chosen) allows me to change the midi sampler! for the first time, i have encountered an almost-logical interface design! adjacent concepts (audio output) are placed in a group!

however, this menu is HIDDEN while the piano roll is up. which means if i want to put sounds down and then tweak the sounds, i have to close a menu and open a different one and go two menus deep after the right click to change the instrument and then close the menu and open the piano roll to test it a second time.

      however, i have successfully played a G#.

it took a meager 30 minutes

clicking on the plus in the bottom left brings up effects such as panning and stereo. this is adjacent to what i want, because it's at least RELATED to the audio instead of the display. i am still unable to preview instruments.

double clicking and right clicking on the adjacent part that says "felt piano" does not let me modify that it is a felt piano, and... oh, what's this?
