During the bedtime routine, my kid asked me "Daddy...Yes or No only - Is Santa real?"
How old is too old to be believing in Santa? Will they get bullied in school if we keep up with the charade?

@sand It doesn't work for all kids but growing up in my family, the understanding of "Santa as a person" evolved into "Santa as an archetype".
Santa is *real* but Santa isn't a literal person. Santa is the generous spirit of giving without needing to get credit for it.
YMMV, my whole family are weirdos so I can't guarantee it works for anybody else.
@gooba42 Thanks for the reply! That sounds pretty cool and practical.
My wife and I went with "Santa is real to those who believe in him. If some kids don't believe then that's ok. But if you want to believe in him and it's not hurting anyone, then that's okay"
And I asked her "Do you want to believe in Santa? Yes? Then he is real. and that's all there is."
I hope she grows out of it soon tho. This Elf on a Shelf thing is a lot of work LOL
Thanks for the reply!
@sand If they're old enough to ask, then they'll understand the truth.
That Santa is fucking real and they should go back to bed.
And don't worry, there are lots of reasons your kids will still get bullied in school. This might just be one less.
@sand Hot take: 0 is too old. 😁 But you do you.
