It is around the time of 6 years anniversary of the beginning of the virus era. I have had a persistent cold (?) for a long time now, no fever, coughing comes and goes.I very rarely get colds and flu I have not had in decades. Thankfully, I don't need more illness on top of my other problems, I heard some had flu (I guess) but aching hands, not back etc (the usual stuff). And some have fevers that comes and goes. Just some odd things, imho. Anyone noticed something unusual on the virus front?
@inscius UK media has been going hard on “bad ‘flu season”, mostly on the basis that a lot of kids are ill comparatively early in the year. May be bollocks, though.
@FeartnTired I mean the talk about epidemics really took hold in 2020. There had ofc been alarms before, but they did not take hold. I have had ME/CFS for 22 years, so please do not tell me about post-viral problems. I even knew people who got it from the swine flu injections (another poorly tested rushed in vaccine). Frankly, I got a bit tired of the incessant yelling of "long-covid" by people who hadn't cared one bit about chronic post-viral problems. It was very political. @Flick
@Flick@inscius there's a tab for flu. you can see from this year's colour it's rising earlier. There's no wastewater testing for flu, and generally people don't get a test, so this is based on confirmed cases bad enough to have seen a doctor, and hospital admissions. Therefore general population cases will be *much* higher.
Due to prevalence of flu, covid is currently very low, off the wastewater numbers.
Not sure what you mean about entering the age of the virus - some of us have been struggling with post viral for a lot longer, just the vast spread of covid brought it to the attention of all the previously healthy people. And the vascular nature of it has caused such long term damage - the % infected continues to be so large globally that rare isn't rare any more.
@inscius@Flick pardon. I've had ME for 39 years, so no, I won't tell you. You know what we've all been through with disbelief and the crap some come out with so I apologise if I was too snarky.
@FeartnTired Hello fellow sufferer. And that is a very long time 😰 . Very sorry to hear that. I admit I reacted too angry. We with ME have been treated badly. It's just so triggering to me. My father's life got shortened by the jabs. And I knew people getting rather strange "colds" or flu in december 2019, before any talk about covid. Not my father tho. So covid was strange, not a typical corona. @Flick
@inscius I haven't had the flu in decades. I got it mostly as a kid. I don't get the flu vax either. I get that horrible norovirus that's worse than a flu or a cold, imo. Aches and pains are every day, lol. 3 Ibuprofen in the morning, and I'm good all day. My husband has a chronic cough, too. Doctor said it was from his medications. That makes it all better. 🙄
