tl;dr it’s essentially a patch for Windows 3.0 that prevents conflicts with MS-DOS when addressing memory above 1MB

@thomasfuchs I always enjoy the tale of the A20 gate. Whenever you have to write _in the official documentation_ "access to higher memory is controlled by this random line attached to the keyboard" you know someone fucked up.
