     like the uwu got old pretty quickly when it was community-operated, but i get it, we all want software-development to be a little quirky and honestly it could stand to be more like that

     "enterprise users" doing the same feels like watching yourself be skinned and then having someone else put that on and go "how do you do fellow kids"

     @valorzard i think matrix has, without joking, destroyed more of my relationships than it created, by virtue of having failure modes that look _exactly_ like someone intentionally ignoring you for months for no fuckin reason

     @valorzard i can't stand discord and the way it treats my attention as worthless so while i can't avoid using it i can avoid relying on it as much as possible

     it... it's not good. the alternatives are not great. maybe ircv3 will save us all (wistfully)

     i worry about discord being owned by a VC backed company and slowly becoming worse, but honestly it just kinda blows all the other chat apps out of the water so like /shrug
     Hopefully revolt/stoat chat gets better

     @whitequark does ircv3 have support for storing history? its VERY annoying whenever I use IRC that I can't scroll up and see previous messages (especially when some IRC servers are super dead, so i either have to leave a browser tab open for days to see if I get a response or hope that the IRC channel has an archive or something)
