I truly despise usb-c devices which ONLY charge with a USB-A-to-USB-C cable. If your prototype doesn’t charge with a regular USB-C cable, then you shouldn’t start production.

@lanodan IIRC, it’s because the device doesn’t implement the power delivery negotiation that’s part of the USB-C protocol. So it doesn’t really “speak” USB-C and it can’t negotiate power delivery with the charger. With a USB-A cable, the charger sends power without any negotiation.
I’m sure I got some of the terminology tangentially wrong, but you get the general idea.
