One last thing before I never speak on this again, this is the entirety so called bad faith discussion and harassment I caused from publishing my video on ext zones https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/wayland/wayland-protocols/-/merge_requests/264#note_3184543

If you want to NACK the protocol just go and NACK it, don't blame for me application developers raising concerns that they would like to see addressed.

Hello everyone! This is a new attempt to resolve the issues clients designed for stacking window managers are facing when they want to set their own...

@BrodieOnLinux Is this #Wayland devs being like: "don't publicize the restrictions we are trying to implement because if developers find out about it they might ask us a few questions", or am I missing something?

Gone ahead and stirred the pot some more.

Though in all seriousness, I do think we should be considering the decentralisation of Wayland development moving forward.

      #Wayland, #X11, #Linux, #FOSS, #OpenSource.

@slopsec There are protocols that already exist separately in each independent desktop and that's also the point of the experimental tag within Wayland protocols.

The point of frog protocols was to raise awareness of discussion problems within Wayland and it managed to achieve that but ultimately you need agreement within the desktops for any sort of widely useful solutions.

Decentralisation will mean that Wayland protocols can exist independently of GNOME and Weston, finding their way into the compositors of the other desktop environments and window managers that may want that functionality.

It is how the global positioning protocol should have been handled in the first place. That way, there is quantifiable and irrefutable proof that the implementation of the protocol works as intended which would make bikeshedding the protocol a lot more difficult to justify in practice.
