    @sitcom_nemesis @sennoma @curiousicae " it's more like, I'm <headmate name> and not me."

    That one's different than my system was. I didn't become someone else, I was someWHERE else. I still have memories of time spent in inside space while I wasn't front

    One of the things that fascinated me most when talking to other plurals has always been how vastly differently different systems work and how they're organized.

      @sennoma @sitcom_nemesis @curiousicae I have lots of curiosity about how other people's brains work!

      I don't remember if I shared this on Fedi - The inside of mine (when I had headmates, this was just me, individually) looks a whole lot like a computer OS. There's a whole UI, with file folders, and a top panel, and digital looking diagrams. ....and somewhere a music player I can't fucking find, lol.

      Yes, I'm beginning to see that.

      Sometimes I think about how complex the human brain is, and I wonder why it doesn't go wrong more often. (Usually pondering my own depressive disorder.)

      This conversation is making me realize that there are also a mind boggling number of different ways for it to go RIGHT. If, as a species, we could get past our tendency to fear The Other, we could open up a vast resource of neurodiversity.

      @sennoma @sitcom_nemesis @curiousicae Memories are stored by "keyword". The filesystem they're stored on is kinda flakey, but the ones that actually stay saved - They're arranged by like fuzzy find. Memories of games, there they are. Memories of holidays, or maybe memories with the smell of engine oil, or whatever I'm looking for.

      There's a window with a diagram of my body, keeps track of injuries an illness... poorly.

      @sennoma @sitcom_nemesis @curiousicae There's the death clock in the upper bar. That keeps a running prediction of when I'll die. If I click it, it explains why it came up with that year. ...it's been displaying some pretty grim stuff lately.

      There's a whole music visualizer when I'm listening to stuff.

      @sennoma @sitcom_nemesis @curiousicae ...and one thing I find interesting... The phrase "picture is like you're there" is something I can't do. I'm not aphantasic, I can picture things in my mind pretty well. But "like your there" implies multiple sense at once. THAT I can't do. A beach, for example. I can picture what that looks like. OR what that smells like. OR what that sounds like. I can't assemble those in to one "like you're there" visualization.

      @sennoma @sitcom_nemesis @curiousicae There's a whole control panel in here... but for most of them, attempting to adjust them just tells me I'm not in the sudoers file. 😠

      That's amazingly detailed compared to the inside of my head.

      I mean, I *conceptualize* my memory as computer files and fuzzy search, but I don't *visualize* it that way. When I try to remember something, I don't really SEE anything, in my mind's eye or even in front of my actual eyes, I just have a squishy feeling of rummaging around and then the memory pops up or doesn't.

      I do have a hidden music player, though. That's where earworms come from. 😂

      @sennoma @sitcom_nemesis @curiousicae That's why I'm bad at math! I can't install kcalc!
