Why Food Stamp Recipients (and Government Contractors) Should Not Be Allowed To Vote

“I don’t think these people should vote. Honestly, how can you vote freely, when you’re being bought?”

Plato raised a good point, which is that democracy changes the psychology of those involved in it. I think this might be more significant here than re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

An electorate of White male property owners got us into this mess.

Naw, I'm pretty sure I said "adult working lives" or something to that effect.

What do you consider a job?

Of COURSE they withdraw more than they put in, in straight numbers. but not with FAIR adjustments for inflation.

Without females, nothing ever continues. We die together, male and female.

I am, and I have. I don't want a "pass". I want respect. Just like you do.

@Vox @GummyNerds I'm not trying to denigrate you or old people. However, Western civilisation is absolutely teetering and past the peak of the bell curve.

We need to go back to gritty fundamentals. Unlimited government care for people over 60, and voting for women is just not feasible.

The idea is that the people voting and making decisions is not about being "bribed by the treasury". Time and time again it has been proven that only one demographic group is able to stick to these values

And again, without women the species ends. We have IMMENSE value and deserve a voice.

Then people should choose when they enter the work force if they want voting rights as seniors. Those who want to vote should be exempt from FICA.

@Vox @GummyNerds "paid into their whole lives" - I'm pretty sure it's a ponzi scheme and they withdraw far more than they've ever put in.

This demographic is not immune from voting entirely for handouts.

The covid Lockdowns showed just how prepared older generations were to ruin younger generations Outlook for their perceived safety.

Not to mention the old trope about this generation "pulling up the ladder" after once in a civilisation economic prosperity

      No job, no vote

Point take, but if something like this ever gets a foothold, they will take it too far. They'll start forbidding people to vote if they collect the Social Security and Medicare they paid into for decades, or people whose children qualify for discounted or free school lunches... and so forth.

Many retired people are property owners. Should they be forced to choose between voting and collecting the SS/Medicare they paid into for their entire working life?
