   @sun Texas has some of the highest property tax rates in the country, because we have no income tax. This would affect the homestead exemption, so only the taxes on the house you actually live in, not investment or rental properties. And houses have gone up massively in value (and thus tax appraisal) in the past five years.

     @randrews @sun I'd probably buy this logic if it applied to everyone, including families trying to provide for their kids, rather than a fabulously wealthy generation of pampered winesips
