   I'm a GP. I'm not confident that I know how to correctly spell diarrhoea without having to look it up, which in front of a patient is awkward. So I just wrote in the patient's notes "got the shits".

     I often look up words in another computer window before posting them because I don't want to look more stupider than I might be.

     @fesshole I've got a soft (no pun intended) spot for the British spelling 'diarrhoea.' Because - as somebody else said - it lost control of its vowels.
