Yeah.. I think my next phone, when this one dies, won't be.
I think I'd rather an itty bitty laptop, a data SIM, and a SIP account.

The only thing questionable in this set up is I need GPS.
I'm sure I'll figure it out by the time this phone needs replacing.

Why? 99% of what I do on my phone not only doesn't need it to be a phone, it's better done on an x86_64.
I just need it phone shaped. Itty bitty laptop with a fold over hinge, bam, phone shaped, with a real keyboard right there.

Hell, one of my laptops kinda has SIP. It's wonky, but I can dial out. I get so few calls, sending everything to voicemail and only returning calls would not be a big deal.

Pair that with a SIP based home phone on my network of the same number, and I'd already solve 99% of my needs to answer incoming calls.

Anyone know of a phone I can connect to ethernet or wifi and just add a SIP account to? Preferably something I can find 2nd hand or discarded. Ugly office aesthetic is fine, funny, actually.
Just need it to directly accept a SIP configuration without needing some PBX or something, and not loxked to a specific SIP provider.

Interesting. I wonder if they block me. Looks like masto dot social blocks freesoftwareextremists so they wouldn't be able to see your post sadly 😞

I use a #Librem5 as my daily phone. What I like a lot is that it is just a #Linux computer where I've freedom and where I'm in control.

On my recent Librem 5's GPS works well.

#PureOS (#Debian based) will soon get an upgrade. See also:

@hellomiakoda Perhaps consider #Librem5, #LibertyPhone, or #MNTPocketReform with #GOnnect...? All of them should connect to Ethernet but they're ARM devices, not x86-64.
