     @bajax @vitalis one time a catholic lass explained to me that they genuinely teach you to write down a list of people you should "bother with your issues" before God because he was "busy". Yeah a fucking omnipresent being doesn't have time with you, he's only everywhere for everyone. how could you POSSIBLY think that meant you (it obviously meant you :senkocreep: )

     @f0x @vitalis now I just plain don't get that. I'm not part of any religion, but I think the purpose of prayer isn't JUST a petition to god, it's also a way to focus yourself and clarify your own intentions to yourself. And possibly correct yourself if you realize you've swayed (I honestly think whatever force you're reaching out to *does* seem to help with that).
     
     to deprive people of that just seems cruel. are you sure that's widespread catholic practice lemme look it up...

     honestly sounds like she went to a Society of St. Pius X school, at least that is what I think of if its serious catholic school. SSPX is in a unresolved canon status so I could imagine they would teach something strange like this

     I have no books to recommend. We looked for the closest church and emailed the priest and were invited to a festival weekend and service.
     
     Both were wonderful, and there can not be a better guide than the community that lives it and the priest leading the congregation. Bless Father George Khristich.

     @w0rm @vitalis @f0x gonna be honest protestants made me hate christianity when I was a kid. went to a southern baptist sunday school for a while, (probably because my parents were trying to make sure I never came out christian-- they wre militant scientific atheists).
     
     I liked catholicism more but not enough to really take it seriously.
     
     anyway, you have any good reading to recommend just so I can get the gist?
