   My wife volunteered on a steering committee to improve road safety in our area, and as thanks, they gave her a tree!

   Not only a tree, but a Pacific Madrone - which is native to the Pacific coast where we live, and is my very favorite kind of tree!

     @windigo I've read they make a rare bitter honey from them. They're uncommon here. It's too cold in winter.

     @morph Absolutely! I think this tree gets its name from its fruit, which are very strawberry-like. :)

     @morph Yes, I haven't heard much about eating anything the tree produces. It's a shame, the fruit LOOK like they should be delicious.
