I've finally successfully obtained the ability to reliably charge my phone on a wireless charger using one of my 24v Kobalt li-ion cordless drill/power tool batteries.
This may seem on its face like a rather trivial accomplishment, and tbh it has this Rube Goldberg-ian vibe to it;
from a battery @ 24vdc
-> buck converter @ 12vdc
-> car inverter @ 120vac
-> USB charging plug @ 5vdc
-> wireless cradle w/phone
Kobalt used to sell a straight-to-USB product that clipped onto their battery platform, but it was discontinued very early on for reasons unknown. Even then it's debatable whether or not it would successfully power the wireless charger, as it's very picky about its power source.
What's fun about having this setup though is it's not at all limited to wireless phone chargers; the main push was to run my wi-fi from a car battery during a recent power outage. It worked well enough, but lead-acid batteries aren't particularly well suited to these long-run applications, without running the risk of permanent damage. Li-ion is well-suited to this, so I figured it'd be worth the effort invested.
