     @Zergling_man Intel's driver is proprietary, as iwlwifi is only part of it - the rest of it is proprietary software that runs on the Wi-Fi card, which has a malicious circuit that implements digital handcuffs to make it cryptographically impossible to replace with free software.

     @Suiseiseki Yeah, lol. intel's iwlwifi driver, apparently. According to lshw (which itself is licenced "GPL" - and I'm not sure how much to trust it, I'll take recommendations for that too) it's a "Wireless 8260", if you know of free drivers for it I'll gladly take them, whenever connection permits.

     @Zergling_man It's proprietary software, as even though intel pretends the license of on part of the derivative work is the GPLv2-only - that is not in fact the license, as important parts of the functions are proprietary software without the source code.
     
     Some of the files say; "Copyright(c) 2003 - 2014 Intel Corporation. All rights reserved." and well SPDX identifiers don't legally mean anything.
