Honeycomb → USB-A 3.x to USB-C adapter → Pinephone USB/HDMI/Ethernet dock → boot thumbdrive + Ethernet cable
Now that's a big pinephone (integrated ethernet and SPF ports doesn't works in Alpine boot image for some reason).-

Lol booted up in Gentoo and it's the opposite, dock's ethernet doesn't works (probably didn't include the driver in the kernel) and integrated ethernet works. -

Kind of funny seeing the rather minimal amount of processes you can have on gentoo, and that's with still having a getty I'm logged in, dhpcd because I haven't made the network static, and ssh dæmon I'm also logged on.

@lanodan if you switch your network over to IPv6, then you can even have it dynamic and without DHCP. Also things like DNS will just work in such case. (I was impressed myself the first time I saw everything working just like that :)

@jschwart My network got IPv6 for ages and in fact SLAAC-only I think as I probably got too lazy to do DHCPv6 on my rather DIY router (installed Alpine on a PC Engine APU6).
But there's still few things where you need IPv4, for example github.Doughnut Lollipop 【記録係】:blobfoxgooglymlem: likes this. -

@lanodan @jschwart Couldn't you just set up NAT from your intranet's IPv6 network to your router's public-facing IPv4 address? :blobfoxthinkgoogly: -

@tk @jschwart Probably but I think that's just pain, specially with some of my local machines having their own DNS resolver (DNS filtering and well laptop can't really depend on my router). Doughnut Lollipop 【記録係】:blobfoxgooglymlem: likes this. -

@tk @jschwart At least I haven't got an IPv6-incompatible system, Solaris 10 from 2005 works over IPv6 and I think Haiku too (got wifi driver issues instead…). Doughnut Lollipop 【記録係】:blobfoxgooglymlem: likes this. -
