   Folks, the insulin scammer from Bluesky is apparently here and attempting to create scam accounts. We have evidence of two attempts on two different servers of impersonating @seengoals (both caught by the diligent admins and communicated to me). I can’t reach Nabil right now as he doesn’t have stable Internet access but I can 100% confirm this is not him when I do.

   To fediverse admins:

   If you see an attempt to create a copy of a Gaza Verified member’s account on your server, without having heard from me first, please suspend it and get in touch with me if you can.

   I have asked the Gaza Verified members not to migrate their accounts without telling me first so I can reach out to one of our friendly server admins (https://gaza-verified.org/guide/#servers) and help them manage the process.

   (And one of the rules of Gaza Verified is that you must have only one active Mastodon account.)

   Also note that while some of our members have trouble putting the Gaza Verified link up properly, the link should be outside of the bio as an actual verified link (green/checkmark in web interface or some sort of verification mark in the various native apps).

   Is there a fediverse admins hashtag I can use to get this seen by the right folks?

     @nemo The only verified account is @seengoals

     Treat any other account as a potential scam.

     If we find out that this was Nabil trying to migrate, we will help him and sort things out.

     I’ve now told all Gaza Verified members not to migrate servers without telling me first so I can help them manage the process.

     @seengoals Note that it might also be that this really is Nabil trying to migrate his account. If so, we will fix it once we hear from him.

     His original account (@seengoals) is the verified one and the only one you should trust now, however, unless you hear differently from me later on.

     Right, everyone, I spoke to @seengoals and the two account creation attempts on different friendly servers (https://gaza-verified.org/guide#servers/) was actually him.

     He hadn’t realised this was against the rules.

     I’ve now asked him if he does actually one to migrate to one of the two servers as it will help us to protect his account better in the future or if he wants to stay on mastodon.social.

     I will update both admins with his decision and we’ll sort it out.

     (He has to travel for Internet access and it isn’t safe so bear with us.)

     For the time being, his only verified account is @seengoals

     But it wasn’t the insulin scammer as we previously thought trying to impersonate him :)

     @Admin @aral @nabilgaza Thank you for your kindness and generosity. I had initially thought I could create an account with you while keeping my personal one on mastodon.social, but Mr. Aral clarified the whole picture for me. I’ve decided to remain on mastodon.social since it’s more familiar and widely recognized. Once again, I truly appreciate your empathy and respect.

     @seengoals @Admin @nabilgaza Nabil, I would highly urge you to move to either of the two accounts you created on the friendly servers (mastodon.design or mastodon.scot I believe it was).

     If you hadn’t created the accounts I’d say stay put unless there’s trouble but there’s no reason to create a different account on mastodon.social.

     So, please, either: keep your original mastodon.social account or move to a friendly server.

     Please let me know here or on Signal what you decide to do. Mastodon.social has no more visibility than other servers, it is just the biggest and they might reduce your visibility at any time. They have not publicly made any statement that they are sympathetic to the Palestinian cause or opposed to Israel’s genocide.

     I simply wanted to first verify with Aral that someone wasn’t trying to impersonate you.
