     @Djeep We have to work backwards. It's not about developing a *vaccine* for *covid* at all.
     It has long been an aim to use gene therapy to develop cures for various ailments; the payoffs could be huge. But gene therapy is highly experimental and the trials would take years and years, costing a fortune. Previous problems with pharmaceuticals that brought about court cases (thalidomide etc) bring their own set of brakes to the work.
     But if there were an *emergency* thus facilitating the need to *fast track* the process, then it's all systems go.
