Someone said the "cancel your Disney subscriptions" movement wouldn't succeed with the Star Wars and Marvel fans.

I can't stop thinking about real oligarchs and nazis staying in power because actual oppressed people love stories the real oligarchs and nazis control about imaginary oppressed people defeating imaginary oligarchs and nazis so much that they won't stop giving the real oligarchs and nazis money for them.

@Rob_T_Firefly It's all bread and circuses. Appease them with entertainment and they'll ignore what's going on. Disney owns too many fan favorite IPs. Even if a fan did cancel, all Disney has to do is come out with a new show or movie, and the FOMO would have them signing back up in a heart beat. It's sad but true.

@f13rf3k @X00001 I can see people not wanting to publicly declare piracy as something they do in the modern era. That said, online piracy never went away; it's kept being a thing all this time, and I can imagine more folks turning back to it over this particular issue.

The question then becomes whether pirating Disney content "counts" as boycotting as you're still a Disney consumer, albeit unpaid, still letting them into your heart and mind. Something for each individual to decide.

@X00001 @Rob_T_Firefly I don't know, did we forget about piracy, or why don't I see that in any of these debates?

@Rob_T_Firefly don't get me started on Marvel, out of all the publishers we did business with they were the worst, and the meanest.

DC comics was sell THROUGH Marvel comics was sell T0.

Meaning DC worked very hard to publish books that you could sell to your customers.

Marvel on the other hand had a different philosophy. if they could get you, the retailer to buy their crap their job was done.

They were at the forefront of ushering in what I call the IP age of comics.
