They saw what happened in Trump's first term and had more than enough information to realize that he would do even worse this time.

@tofugolem @Susan60 he basically gave farmers all of the incoming tarriff money to survive the markets going away. They must have thought he would do it again

I'm sorry, but no.
Those farmers are pretty wealthy and educated, and they knew damn well what would happen as a result of their votes.
Yes, the people wealthier than them are more to fault for this. The billionaires are far more responsible than the millionaires.
But that still doesn't let the millionaires off the hook.
I do. That doesn’t mean I’m not very frustrated by such people. But I get that there are those who are ignorant, disengaged etc. And that the corruption of the democratic process in the most capitalistic country in the world is what is behind all of this.
It is the rich power brokers who actually bear responsibility for this situation.
