Visiting other aquariums after spending most of my time in Monterey Bay is a bit like visiting other cities after New York.

@skinnylatte Best I've seen are Shedd Aquarium and Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta. How does Monterey Bay compare?

@andrew773 those are all great aquariums. i would say that the primary difference with monterey is the location. we are a center for deep sea research so it isn't just 'fish in a tank'. it's also about research of the bay and environmental conservation and climate change related research. with a focus on conversation (like our team pioneered otter surrogacy and helped stabilize the local otter population which in turn is having massive regenerative aspects on the ecosystem). so it's more of a focus on the ecosystem locally rather than the ocean generally.

@skinnylatte The two things I remember best about a trip to the US a few years ago, Monterey Bay Aquarium and La Brea.
I also visited the Grand Canyon but wasn't all that impressed!
