@DenOfEarth @fringd @wb2ifs @pluralistic 25 years ago I was a printer technician. One of my favourite printers was the LaserJet III. I have seen one that had printed over 1.3 million pages and after servicing, probably could have gone on to print the same again. They come from an era when things were designed to be maintained, rather than thrown away at the first issue.

I recall a period about a decade ago (been a while since I bought a new printer) where there were a lot of printers that were cheaper to buy new than buy ink refills for.
