this is what i think every time i hear “it’s a messaging problem”
honey i don’t think the failure to achieve communist revolution in the west is a “messaging problem”. there are no magic words that will radicalize strangers. the search for perfect words is a cynical pursuit of mechanical persuasion, to perceive your audience like devices that can be manipulated into acting right.

dems talk about messaging problems. they are stuck thinking of you as a device, like a slot machine. where’s the handle? what words will open that wallet and still that fist? the wallet didn’t open and the fist still shakes; clearly we didn’t find the handle. why treat humans so dispassionately, so cynically? i couldn’t hear you over the sound of “as an electoral strategist, that is literally my job”

you cannot message your way to comprehension in the face of critical illiteracy. when the spirit is deaf, you must speak to the body, and it cannot hear your words.
