   "Nature and Personhood" is a draft chapter from my upcoming book, "Where the Roots are Long": The #LordOfTheRings and the Modern Environmentalist Movement."

   In this chapter, I look at the conception of nature as a person, deserving of respect and often possesing of legal rights. I look at a few examples from our own world, and compare it to #LOTR, where nature (in the form of forests, rivers, and mountains) often joins in the conflict of Middle-earth.

     @derek I love it! You quote William O. Douglas's Supreme Court opinion about nature having legal standing somewhere in the book, I hope.
