     @skinnylatte @ranjit i'm personally innoculated against this (after a week or so i begin to itch for visibile horizons and large expanses of plants), but my partner isn't and i suspect it may eventually happen to me by proxy.

     @skinnylatte If you feel overwhelmed by the urge to stay in NYC, there's a Dallas BBQ near Times Square. Order the chicken tenders and specify that you want them "sticky." Wash them down with shooters served in Facebook branded test tubes. You'll be cured.

     The only family I have in this country is in New York City. My aunt and her fam.

     Singaporean - Cuban - Panamanian - HK - Chinese folks.

     Growing up, seeing my aunt come back and leave repeatedly was maybe more influential to me: if she can do it, I can too.

     She moved to the Bronx as a 18 year old with her entire group of high school girl friends and they are all there now. She looks exactly like my mom, but with a Brooklyn accent now.

     When I first seriously considered moving here in 2012, I talked to her about her life choices. She was very sad to give up her Singapore passport (we aren’t allowed more than one nationality), but her life was there. She was very clear eyed about what she gained, and lost. She warned me against romanticizing it too much. But she wouldn’t have changed her choices.

     That’s sort of where I am now, but I maybe didn’t understand why at the time.

     From what you’ve posted here, I think I know you well enough to predict you would probably want to leave by November at the latest. But definitely come back in May and stay a while!

     @skinnylatte If you think you'll have time for a train trip into the suburbs specifically for what I consider the world's best bagels (though I haven't had them in close to 10 years now) let me know and I'll give you the address. It's down the street from a commuter rail station, so unlike much of NJ you can take transit to/from it. (egg & cheese on a fresh bagel is so, so good...)
