I’m still inclined to wait a week more to see if anything else comes out of the woodwork, but the account of the incident itself very clearly cannot match the more wild versions being passed around, given the CCTV, the witnesses, and the media interest (the Mail definitely) in finding anything like that. The version he gives himself, in the Courier, already includes things like his sister shoving a girl away from him, which seems likely and also seems like the sort of thing that kids that age would build into the stories being passed around of her ‘battering’ a child.
But also, I am really worried for her. It is likely that all sorts of stuff has happened in her life up to that day, and now there is all this media and internet focus on her, as well as her face everywhere. Bits of it are already out there. I’d want her supported, and things that happened to her properly investigated and dealt with (not at all a given, as you know), but it would be awful for that to be played out in public for people to consume as entertainment, and her face is going to be on the internet for a long time.

@shrikefliesfree It seems unlikely that he would willingly put photos of himself (and his wife) in a national newspaper if he had actually done anything wrong. Remember, the police have reviewed a lot of CCTV and not charged him with anything.

@KeepTakingTheSoma @shrikefliesfree My reading of it was that she’d previously waved the knife at him, so he started filming and asked her to get it out again so that he would have it on video. IDK. Definitely more to it, there’s some sort of history with her and his wife, I think I read.
