    @thomasfuchs

    When Chrome hit the ground, I was excited to have another player (besides IE and Firefox) in the market, which pushes the classich KHTML/webkit/Safari-Engine.

    I did not use it, but I was happy to see another competitor.

    Of coarse today the dominance of chrome and webkit is a huge problem!

    But: The web went south when comercialisation happened, when companies recognized they wanted to have a presence in web, when message boards became less important then amazon.

      @codinghorror I disagree. Google Chrome was made with one single purpose in mind: create a monopoly on the Web.

      Microsoft may have tried too, but failed.

      @thomasfuchs the Internet Explorer releases (or non-releases) did FAR more damage to the web
