   Precedent set?
   Both of my #Scarfolk books were downloaded and pirated from the LibGen 'shadow library'.
   Compensation would be nice.
   Anyone aware of other class-action lawsuits I can join, or have any other legal pointers?

     @cavyherd @Richard_Littler Aksherly, Anthropic AI *already caved*—they admitted liability, it's not going to trial, what's happening now is wrangling over the size of damages and who is involved in the settlement.

     (Of course, this now means the weight of scrutiny will fall on OpenAI, Meta, and other thieves—with an unfavourable precedent, too …)

     @dolanor @cstross @cavyherd @Richard_Littler So far the answer I've gotten is that this is just to sign up to be notified, not opting in or out of the class, and that the settlement terms aren't yet set.

     But it's something folks who are considering accepting class status for need to keep a close eye on. My spidey senses tell me it's near 100% certain the lawyers are going to conspire to let Anthropic keep their models and have authors accept pathetic one-time payments or small royalties in exchange for allowing them to do that forever.
