@rolle wonder if this blocks people from linking to your posts if you have it on. Since that's how Quote posts were done before this...🤨

This is really nice and something we haven't seen on any other social media platforms. Elsewhere, you can just quote someone without asking, but in the Fediverse, you need permission, and you can actually control who quotes you without having to delete your post.
It feels great to be part of something truly unprecedented.

@alex @rolle the issue I have, is that people on social media use these features to spread misinformation without getting checked.
If people can't reply or quote, then it could lead to people believing the misinformation.😬

I'm thinking...not.
it just can't be quoted, but it doesn't remove links. That still makes it a vector for abuse (people can still click links).
Now if there were some sort of anti-linking feature that says "this user does not want their posts linked to", that would solve that. But it would stop all links, regardless of who or why.

@rolle This is smart. I'm glad they implemented it this way. I was not 100% on board with quote posts here, even though I know I'd use them, because I remember how that feature was abused on X. 95% of the time I saw quote posts, the intention was to humiliate and direct harassment at someone.
Kind of nice to have product design that isn't guided by "how can we engineer as much conflict as possible"
