   It's partially that, and also the fact that when one of them picks something up the rest of the lilithswarm does too.
   The other part though is that they, like everyone else, recognize how bland and stifling modern culture is and how stylish, optimistic, and fun the "Y2K' era was. They are also very aware of the fact their entire lifestyle would not have been accepted then.
   So what they do is they try to go back and try to rewrite our cultural past they way they did their own lives. Look around and you'll see a lot of them do this.

     Is the low poly art style troon bait or something, saw some cute Tsukihime models in that style and the creator is a fucking troon.
