Fucking male mentality.
The breasts aren’t pornographic because she has a fish tail!
I swear, men are stupid, every last one of them.

@ChasingWaterfalls Mermaid fettish has all the hall marks of men who want boobs and a mouth, without the trappings of pregnancy. The original Danish character was also mute.

@Lady_Penelope @ChasingWaterfalls The story of the Little Mermaid is classic Andersen; the underdog, the stranger in society.
She leaves her comfort for the unknown and she does it for love, a love that is ultimately unrequited. The desire for legs is as much for her to belong to her new surroundings as it is for the object of her love. It is not her legs he desires as what lies between them. The muting is to keep her from fully belonging and the price she pays for straying where she should not, as is the sensation of every step as walking on knives.
Andersen wrote many stories in this vein as he believed that he was tolerated but never accepted into the higher social class he aspired to. They are cautionary tales of staying in ones lane.
