Have you all seen pixieditor? An open source image editor without a stubborn developer or a terrible name!
I just became a supporting founder and it would be great to see this succeed.

I am very happy to see more projects make it clear they don’t use AI on the homepage.
I started working on a new graphic for my website today, using Affinity Photo. I’m going to try and make it using this instead.
Big thanks to @ernie for mentioning this in the latest https://tedium.co
The project looks cool, however I will never touch anything that is made with C# or .NET and Mono... 😖
I’m looking forward to making this a part of my workflow
For around $27 you can sponsor the project with a one time payment #opensource #libregraphics
Cool, I will see if I can write a blog post about this.
Good tools with a sensible name are much needed, most are named in such a way that the name has nothing to do with the use, and word association is usually a factor in remembering things.
Great work.
@HN414 the name isn’t (it’s an ableist slur) and attempts to get the developers to care about it have gone nowhere
@mattl Is Gimp not cool anymore?
@fiee @ernie You could also consider hopping on their forum or filing some GitHub issues for the kinds of things you'd like to see.
@mattl @ernie
Ok, just tried it. Not even simple resolution or color space changes, no filters, no gradation curves or other means of photo editing. In short: completely useless for my tasks. Let’s look at it again in v4.0…
@mattl @ernie
Thanks for the link!
I need something for prepress image editing, switched from Photoshop to Affinity Photo years ago, but won't replace my 2013 Mac when it breaks down. Can't cope with the GIMP, and Krita doesn't fit my needs. This one gives hope.
@fiee @ernie You don't think telling them what you just told us would help them at all?
@mattl @ernie
Thank you, but I don’t think that makes sense – it’s a completely different direction that they’re seem to head.
And I don’t trust that someone who doesn’t think about photo editing would know how to do it right. (Sorry, I only know how to use such a program, no sufficient skills in programming and nearly no in that non-trivial mathematics.)

@mattl@social.coop Horrible CoC though, written in C#, and built on .NET.
