Autistic people, more prominently in our modern age, are absolutely a drain on time, energy and resources. All the traits associated with autism also describe an incredibly self-centered, short tempered, immature, useless person, and I'm tired of playing pretend and acting like that isn't true.

Autists in aggregate tend to embrace anti-civilizational tendencies, and there comes a point where we all individually must ask ourselves how many resources we are willing to spend catering to them before we conclude that it's a lost cause.

@veff I try to respect others and people who engage the discussion, despite everything, but if someone is a massive sperg, you just move past it and enjoy your life.

When people speak to me, I enjoy the search for meaning. There will always be a difference between what is said versus what is meant due to the limitations of language. That's why I learn many different languages. If I were to go to Brazil and then get mad when I didn't understand people, that'd be pretty damn foolish and would rightfully be my fault. Likewise, it'd be the same- or perhaps worse- in English if I somehow didn't understand what someone was saying due to minor semantic anomalies, or word choice or pronunciation etc.

In my life, I've had conversations with many autists both irl and online. In those conversations, I've had people get very upset and refuse to understand my point because of quite inconsequential things like improper grammar usage or using general rather than specific terms.

I'm passionate about linguistics and communication so I'm not unaware that these can cause problems, but ultimately words and meaning require work from both parties. "Autism," even at low levels, manifests itself through the complete refusal or perhaps inability to put in the effort on the understanding side, again pointing to the general selfish and short tempered tendencies. I write and rewrite my text to be as precise as possible, yet it still isn't enough. The onus eventually is on the listener to put the pieces together and understand intent, but for a supposedly "logic-obsessed" people, they largely seem incapable of this.

It is in these moments which make me realize most autistic people add nothing of value to life. They claim intelligence and logic as a cope to hide their near universal thin-skin. Want to be respected? Become an idiot savant. Paint a giant mural, or invent something great. All that massive intellect doesn't amount to jack or shit unless you can back it up with something of value.

@veff This problem we are facing today is that there is no give in people here. People have become a wall and thats why people call them "autistic".

See what I mean? I can leave nothing up to interpretation and autistic people will still find a way to misinterpret meaning- and it'll always be your fault, never theirs.

Language is code. I encode the thoughts in my head and they travel via sound/text into the recipient's ears/eyes. A normal, functioning human would then take those words and decode it into a fairly close approximation of what the original thought was. This is an automatic process. The autist, however, will suppose that you should beam the information directly into their cranium, because they are either too lazy, self centered, or unable to be bothered to do the thing that humans have evolved to do intuitively since the dawn of language. This is why I am in favor of infanticide spartan-style at the first signs of autism.

@hazlin @veff I recommend my self looking at conversation when trying to talk about a topic either you trying to prove an idea, or someone trying to prove a idea to you. It makes no sense to be a wall in this case becuase your just preaching at that point. We have a few of those types around here.

Questions of value are hard. The value of a relationship feels related.

Correctness of ideas, seems to be a non-starter. Because, everyone gets to pick their first truths. So, there is no way to synchronize. And, logical arguments cannot change someone's first truths.

What I sort of feel reading veff's post, is it reminds me that, I used to talk to people I hated, because I felt like they should keep being given a chance. And, you know what? I think it is perfectly valid to sort people out, on the basis of whether you love them, or hate them.

Why do we have emotions, if not to navigate these things that defy being sorted with logic, reason, and rules.

Knowing when to be a learner, a teacher, a supporter, or a challenger. That is the trick.

@veff i really like how you categorized a group of mega spergs as a general stereotype of autistic people though lmfao. it is genuinely hilarious, some people are willing to try to understand you if they feel your tone is too ambiguous! did ya not know that?
