     @gear@gearlandia.haus @Wiz@loli.church well, idk if I'll have the time to sand everything properly, but the plan is to design things to not need much sanding (and printing with petg to still have an easier time of it if needed). Lots of flat surfaces, so I'm thinking of having them all print flat on a smooth plate, then assemble onto a frame.
     
     But yeah, most people don't put enough into processing, I made this pair of headphones with printed cups and spent like a year just nailing down the polishing so they look nice and shiny, smooth enough to see your reflection in.

     I'm only appalled by 3D Printing because it's a retarded copy and paste answer, and I see too many amateurs fall victim to not sanding their shit, let alone painting it or realizing that it's better to use 3D Printing as a supplement to their craft, rather than a catch all.
     
     Like, I've seen almost too many printed armor sets, and they all, look, fugly.

     @theorytoe@ak.kyaruc.moe @Wiz@loli.church @gear@gearlandia.haus you should switch to kalico, it's so much more convenient to tinker with. Don't have to recompile to update configuration stuff, and can take advantage of cool stuff like the Beacon scanner.
     
     On my main machine I basically just hit print and it physically tilts the bed to get it as flat as possible, then produces a stupidly high resolution scan of the surface, and auto-calibrates the z-offset. Plus all the usual MMU things like automated filament loading/unloading.
     
     Also has some less meaningful mods like 48V drivers for the corexy steppers and a CPAP part cooling fan.

     yeah ill probably upgrade at some point, but being that getting another mainboard for the klipper host is expensive i opted to just build marlin. it wasnt too bad and im not really focused on raw performance as of yet

     Yeah, it's a klipper fork, since the klipper devs are lowkey retarded and holding back a lot of genuinely useful features (eg PID algorithms that don't overshoot).
     
     I'm a bit obsessed with tinkering with printers, so I've dumped a ton of money into mine, 600W bed heater, beacon scanner, kinematic bed mount, some metal parts, MMU, CPAP, 48V stepper drivers and some custom designed parts...
