Mystery abandoned car. Paper still there, hasn't been touched. Glove box is locked (reachable from the open window). May be at a standstill, apparently since it is in private property, the property owner (big box retailer's landlord) would have to get it towed and/or report to the police department, as the vehicle has not been reported stolen. Has been there since 2018 or 2019. (note: hmm, maybe it IS a bait car for the local PD?!) #mystery

@ai6yr It's a bait car, which you figured out.
Years ago, I retrieved a car from Rudy's Used Cars and Motorcycle Sales outside of Las Vegas. Rudy had left the windows like that one, and it had sat for months. He had removed the coil and battery. He claimed he found it that way. I thought he was selling the parts, but I had to buy the coil and battery to get it going.
The seats were caked in mud from dust and ensuing rains. I mean, it was clay on vinyl. It was awful. I had to drive it like that back to California. In a wet swim suit. My friends and I were idiots. I could say much about that trip.
Back to the point.
If the seats weren't gross, after that many years, it's a maintained bait car. Somebody keeps the interior from grossing out car thieves.

Narrator: "We'd made it to Vegas, and checked into our rooms in the cheap hotel where we'd remembered to make reservations. After meeting the nice bartender who made excellent Bloody Marys, the 3 of us 20-something guys headed out to lose our shirts gambling, as is the custom in Nevada.
As near as I recall, we were walking across a darkened hotel/casino parking lot, heading in the direction of its lights in the distance, when a woman, roughly our age, strode up to join us. We spoke first, being friendly stranger types."
"Hi!"
"Know where there are any good parties?"
"What?"
"Want to party?"
"Uh. We just got here and we're..."
"Want to f*ck?"
👀
The official welcoming committee in Vegas is bold. Damn bold.
