   The Epping migrant delusion

   There is still the idea that you can simply ‘manage’ the news, and people will feel better. In practice that means that if enough lies are repeated, enough platitudes spouted and enough protests cracked down on then eventually the headlines will change. Ironically, this attitude is doing more to ‘whip up unrest’ than any Facebook post by some outraged Essex nan.

     @carolen I am not a very social person, but I am astonished how many seems to still believe in all those cliches and platitudes. Or maybe most are just afraid to say what they think? When the bottle is forced opened by pressure, things can get ugly.

     @inscius I think there has been a lot of 'keeping your head down' plus after seeing the govt reaction after the Southport riots, people were scared to do or say anything.

     Seems to be different now, the govt hasn't said much (or anything) and the demonstrators have been well behaved (especially since a lot of them are mothers with children). Is harder for TPTB to paint them as far-right nutters

     @carolen That is good. Tho they can be very agressive even against very peaceful people. Like abortion critics. Or that guy that prayed silently... but 5x wailing per day is ok.
