     @Tattered No he in fact cannot. That's the way decentralized federation works. This is by design. Mastodon.social moderators cannot moderate what happens on other Fediverse instance, they can only choose to remove posts, delete accounts or choose do defederate instances from mastodon.social (their view of the Fediverse).
     
     If they delete a post from another instance, that post still exists on that other instance.
     If they defederate an instance, that instance is still completely free to federate with others.

     @phnt Yep; got it. I got a nice DM from a mastodon social moderator, pointing out that I need to talk to the team at Vivaldi Social.
     Generally speaking, as many instances as possible blocking the Nazis, the better. Let them talk to each other, without sullying the conversation of others.

     Why not just block them individually. Let people decide who they want to talk to. You are an adult. You don't need to cry to daddy because someone uses some words you don't like.

     @Tattered @phnt This is functionally what happens. The end result is that the fediverse is functionally split into two halves: people who are OK talking to Nazis and people who are not. They have two very different cultures.
     
     The type of conversation you're having right now - where you actually talk to someone on the internet - is only possible on the half that talks with Nazis. This is because we comment far more than we post: we like interaction with other people, we aren't here to grandstand. We don't view this as a "platform for fighting about ideas," we view this as the bar we hang out in.
     
     You clearly want a place to fight about ideas, and so you belong on the half of fedi that doesn't talk to nazis.
