   Honestly, as an American I am more afraid of a small pain that lasts for more than a few days, or falling down requiring a trip to the hospital, or a financially ruining cancer diagnosis.

     For us as Germans, it is hard to imagine living in constant fear of being shot or stabbed by fellow human beings.
