   Before you advocate #Linux as an alternative for #Windows, it has to be fit for purpose first. This requires understanding and empathy for your (potential) users, which I am not sure a large chunk of the community is capable of.

     @bransonturner@mastodon.social @voltagex@aus.social Interesting that you say that, because GNU+Linux is actually the most used system in the world already, and has been for a very long time. The only place where Windows is more popular is in the "gamer" desktop space, and its losing ground there too.

     @voltagex Linux have become the early Macintosh users of today. Declaring their system as "better" when it simply didn't meet the needs of 95% of users, and then screaming in impotent rage as the world used Windows. I've seen this story before.

     @Pi_rat@freesoftwareextremist.com @voltagex@aus.social @bransonturner@mastodon.social Honestly, just leave those people at Windows if they don't care for the parts that make GNU+Linux great. Same goes for the Fediverse (or, as Mastodonters call it, Mastodon). If they don't care for the aspects of freedom and ownership, please just let them fester in their own pool of garbage.
     
     I don't want to convert everyone to the systems I use, because the systems I use I have chosen because they work well for me, they align with my desires. Chasing trends and popularity would only destroy these features I like. Its just so silly to think popularity is the most important aspect in life.

     It is sad how these losers have all the time in world to argue with facts which they have got wrong despite air cheap internet. They could be out there bring "users" to "linux" but they rather advice others how to do it

And how Linux users are terrible at making the case for Windows users to convert. Like you're doing here. It's really wild to watch in real time.

If you don't want to own your computer, you have no need for a free OS. All they'd be doing here is ruining GNU+Linux for the people that do enjoy the free software aspect.
     
     Besides, seeing Windows 8 and beyond, Microsoft is making a great case for leaving Windows behind. Only the very silly people who just really can't go beyond their baby duck syndrome still pretend Windows is good.Like you're doing hereI'm not trying to convert anyone here, I'm just telling you your worldview is faulty. If you can't handle that and lash out in anger and frustration, that's on you.

Not sure how that's negligible.dominating web serversThey dominate everywhere, except 1 tiny fraction of the market, which is the tiny fraction you pretend to be the whole market.
