   @thomasfuchs I can relate to this sentiment, but the paper refutes that "perceived ethicality" (or "perceived capability") explains the discrepancy.

     - Asbestos
     - Smoking
     - Internet of Things
     - Blockchain (including cryptocurrencies, NFTs, etc…)
     And now generative AI, it is hardly “surprising”.

     @thomasfuchs great paper, full of gems: “this link occurs because people with lower AI literacy are more likely to perceive AI as magical and experience feelings of awe in the face of AI's execution of tasks that seem to require uniquely human attributes” ⬅️ literally the way it is being intentionally marketed to everyone.

     @thomasfuchs people's work, in this case, is not a limited good, it can't be stolen. Information doesn't want to be free, it is, just someone uses it for things you don't like doesn't make it any less so.
