   "Children will be taught to love America" (Re: Public school funding).

   Um, that is not how love works. You want America to be loved, you be lovable. That's how it works.
   Nobody and nothing I love is because someone taught me, it's because they were worthy.

   The best you could accomplish is brainwashing, which eventually fails, or fear, which is definitely not love.

     I don't understand the point of everything that's going on. It's a lot of work and money to be this cruel. It would literally be cheaper and easier to just... not.

     @theogrin It's something I can't wrap my brain around. Being kind is what makes me feel better. If something I'm able to do eases someone's struggle a bit, I feel better. Joyous, even.

     ...and being powerless to do much against whats going on has the opposite effect. It's misery. I guess it's that "pesky" empathy.

     I can't help but feel that it's always to make themselves feel better. To feel better than the folks that are being oppressed and - increasingly - murdered, because otherwise they have absolutely nothing to their lives but a number in a bank account and a long list of failures.

     Stomping with that spiked bootheel is a lot easier, if that much more expensive, than actually trying to be a better person.
