    just realized that as soon as tech companies made the shift from siri style "personal assistants" to "AI" that you were supposed to trust for actual answers about things, they stopped gendering them all as feminine. grok, chatgpt, claude, they're all either neutral or masculine

      @somcak @nora Aside from the sexist premise of the AI cult, I think they'd actually be less believable as "intelligent" if they weren't masculine-coded because the atrociously bad behavior they engage in, essentially mansplaining, is only widely perceived as acceptable and "intelligent" when it's perceived as coming from a man.

      They'd look as stupid as they are if they did that shit with a feminine persona, without the guise of gender to make it ok.

      @nora most people find female voices soothing and the assistant bots use TTS engines. the femininity is probably worked backwards from this.
