Both the synthesis and control endings are nothing but a reaper psyop. If synthesis was an option, there would be no reason for reaper cycle to exist, and the control isn't something they would offer.

Not only that, but Reapers literally have an ability to brainwash organics. The final boss fight with the Illusive man is because he fell for their manipulation believing that he can control them.....And then you do literally the same thing and succeed? After being in the presence of reapers longer then any human alive?
I don't think so. This is literally the "I can quit meth whenever I want" kind of logic.
