@jeffcliff I don't think the ME or Intel's digital handcuffs had any impact on what processors big businesses who host lots of servers bought, considering that AMD has the PSP and digital handcuffs too.
The difference is that AMD gives more cores for less price (or many more cores for a large price), has slightly less housefire power consumption, doesn't supply CPUs that cook their own circuitry and become unstable unlike Intel and how AMD cuts less corners on processor design, meaning the "security patches" for each month's speculative execution exploit leads to a minimal performance regression.
